SFR (Société Française du Radiotéléphone) is France's second mobile operator. Since 2014 it has belonged to the Altice group.

About SFR

SFR, Société Française du Radiotéléphone, was founded in 1987 and obtained France's second mobile licence in 1992. Owned by Vivendi for decades, the SFR group was sold in 2014 to Altice, the telecommunications conglomerate led by Patrick Drahi. SFR operates its own 4G and 5G network covering virtually the entire French territory and assigns 06 mobile numbers. The operator also offers ADSL and fibre services through Numericable-SFR. SFR also hosts several virtual operators (MVNOs) on its network, including RED by SFR, La Poste Mobile and NRJ Mobile, which also use 06 numbers.

Suspicious calls from a SFR number: what to do?

Many fraudulent calls spoof 06 numbers while impersonating SFR or its customer service. SFR will never contact you to ask for your password, banking details, or to install an application. If in doubt, hang up and call the official SFR customer service at 1023.
